I didn't know until recently. Desktop mode still has a way to go, before it's ready for day-to-day use -- but it's a step in the right direction.

VoLTE on de-Googled Samsung devices: perhaps there is light at the end of the tunnel (publ. Sep 2026, edit. Sep 2026)

Perhaps things aren't as bleak as they appeared a year ago: I'm testing an open-source VoLTE (voice calling over 4G) implementation on my Note 9, and it seems to be working.
